Monument, Colorado

Here We Go

As of today we are 19 days away from jumping on the plane to head to Seattle, WA. It's our first one-way tickets we have bought and it is a WONDERFUL feeling.

Even with the nerves and the unknown we can't wait (!!!) to start this new adventure. Where are we going? Well, obviously we are starting in Seattle, but not ending there. We are then potentially heading into Canada and then taking The Pacific Coast Highway south. Why? Why not? Both of us have not lived outside of beautiful Colorado, other then our jaunt to Santa Fe. When we moved to New Mexico we knew that we started this itch for travel and seeing other places. Through inspirations and a love for being minimalists (as best we can) we created this plan to take the slow route of the west coast.

Blake is in love with biking. He has been on some sort of bike his whole life. He was in motorcross with his brother growing up, traveling the country with his friends and family. He mountain biked and rode his bike to work; rain, snow, or shine. In July of 2011, after graduating culinary school, he decided to pack up a road bike with the basic neccessities and travel south through the mountain towns of Colorado to Santa Fe, NM, the Land of Manana. Three weeks later he arrived and started a life there. I quickly followed (not on a bike!) Throughout our time there Blake would treck up the mountain 15 miles and soar back down on a weekly basis, staying healthy, and loving the ride.

Home away from home.

Naturally, we wouldn't be driving on any adventure we are to take next. So, there came the idea of biking the coast. I am honest with myself in knowing that I am not an advid biker, in fact, my bike and I have a love/hate relationship. So with that in mind we had to rule out me bicycling with Blake. But I can't drive...that'd be too fast. Moped! Ding Ding Ding! Why not? So with our bike and moped in mind for this trip, everything else is just falling into place.

I am in love with creativity. How can I make this trip work for me and feed my love for art? First of all... I'll start another blog! I love writing and taking pictures ans staying connected to friends and family. So this blog is a way for me to remain ME and also a way to keep all the concerned family in-the-know about where we are and how we are doing. It is also a way to show those who are thinking of having an adventure of their own that THEY CAN DO IT! We are just two people wanting to see the world before bigger life commitments sink in.

So, no matter where this life is taking you, friends, DREAM BIG, RIDE FAR!!!!!!!!!

I designed these shirts for our trip. We screen printed them ourselves and made a bunch for friends and family who'd like to support our journey. We have selected sizes and they are going fast, but if you would like one, we would love to mail you a shirt to spread the word to Dream Big Ride Far. The men's are S-XL and the Women's are XS-L. I am wearing a small and Blake is wearing a medium. We are asking for $20 each, and the funds are going towards our trip!

Looking forward to staying in contact and hearing from you guys. If you have any advice or encouragement please don't hesitate to contact us!
My email is melbug2@yahoo.com.

Hope you enjoy the blog and the journey that we are about to take!
